Style Pet Peeves

Have you ever looked at someone and involuntarily thought they looked bad? My belief is that everyone can look beautiful but it really gets my goat when people who could be gob smacking gorgeous look sullen and sick. One of my passions is to see people looking their best and portraying what they are about. One question I would like you to ponder is what is Style?
Goths for instance although they are not the center of the fashion magazines, they are truly happy with their style, it portrays who they are and what they believe so is that bad style?
Black is a colour (or shade) that absorbs colour around it making the skin of the
wearer much lighter than it would usually look. Goths look for that pale skin look. On the other hand, Goths aren't immune to fashion and looking for good cuts for their body shape.

Mainstream style can be unique to your personality i
t doesn't have to be exactly what is on the runway or in the fashion magazines. In fact playing around with style can help you to turn heads, if that's what you want out of your outfits. An example is Bows. Autumn 2010 fashion features bows. That leaves a wide range of ways you could wear them. Depending on your body shape and style bows could add a creative twist or a romantic or feminine touch to any outfit. The photo to the right shows three ways to wear bows. The left picture is an outfit by Lela Rose, a subtle bow with a twist is featured on the front of the bodice giving a soft yet creative look to the outfit. The center picture an outfit by Charlotte Ronson, features the bow on the waistband of the skirt contrasted by the off white of the blouse giving a tailored and more sophisticated look. The third outfit by designer Marc Jacobs features a sparkling bow uplifting the paleness of the dress fabric and giving the romantic dress a touch of glamour.
These are just a few of the examples that show that fashion can be simple if you know who you are and what you need to portray to others. Have a play around with what you have, if you like to keep to the latest fashions experiment with bows, but make them your own.
